The Professional EV Technician

Designed for technicians working on electric vehicles in independent aftermarket workshops

This Training Pathway provides the skills, knowledge and qualifications to enable experienced technicians to work safely and competently on electric and hybrid vehicles, from routine maintenance and service to live high-voltage system repairs.

Module 1
IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Maintenance System Repair & Replacement

• Prerequisite: Vehicle maintenance and repair skills at level 3 or equivalent

Module 2
IMI EV Service & Maintenance

• Prerequisite: Minimum IMI Level 2 Electric/Hybrid Qualification or equivalent

Module 3
NTDA Licensed EV Tyre Technician

Module 4
IMI Level 4 Award in the Diagnosis, Testing & Repair of Electric/Hybrid Vehicles & Components

• Prerequisite: IMI Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Qualification (or equivalent)

Module 5
IMI TechSafe CPD

• To maintain TechSafe recognition on the IMI Professional Register, learners are required to provide evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities

Whilst module 3 can be attended at any time, it is recommended that modules 1,2,4&5 are completed in the prescribed order.
Learners that have successfully attended courses with equivalent content can gain credit towards the full pathway upon submitting suitable evidence.
