irtec Large Commercial Vehicle Inspection Technician – Accreditation

The Inspection Technician level was introduced in January 2011. The licence is comprised of 1 practical module (Inspection of Vehicles) and 2 online theory test. To complete this level, candidates should be competent at inspecting a vehicle and identifying faults. IT is the most commonly taken level as it examines the candidates’ knowledge against the DVSA testers’ manual.

The theory test is specific to vehicle inspection. 30% of the questions will be legislation related, 70% will be technical.

This can be completed on the employers site as long as all test area conditions can be met. It is usual that the licence takes at-least half a day and we can normally accommodate up to 3 candidates per day.

In addition to the irtec test cost there may be a charge for travel & accommodation costs. This will be dependant on location relevant to our assessors locations around the country.
