IMI Level 2/3 Awards in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Maintenance, System Repair & Replacement

This award consists of levels 2 & 3 combined and is designed for technicians who maintain and repair electric/hybrid vehicles.

It contains the skills and knowledge required to work safely around a vehicle’s high and low voltage electrical system and electric drive train system, whilst carrying out repairs or maintenance. On completing this qualification, technicians will have gained knowledge and skills required for repairing vehicles with low and high voltage technologies and an understanding of their dangers.

It introduces you to electric/hybrid vehicle technology (all variations) including, and in particular, the safety requirements of working on these types of vehicles, e.g. whilst carrying out routine vehicle servicing, general repairs which are not related to the high energy electrical system.

• Safety Equipment & Procedures
• High Voltage test equipment and basic electrics
• Electric/hybrid vehicle systems & components
• Electric/hybrid variations
• Hazards surrounding electric/hybrid vehicles
• Reducing the risk to yourself and others when working on electric/hybrid vehicles
• Safely preparing the vehicle when carrying out routine maintenance (Not high voltage components)

• Working Safely on an electric/hybrid vehicle
• Using information to carry out the task
• Carrying out repairs on high energy electrical systems
• Recording information and making suitable recommendations
