IMI Level 4 Award in the Diagnosis, Testing and Repair of Electric/Hybrid Vehicles & Components

The content of this qualification has been designed in close liaison with industry specialists, electric vehicle manufacturers, training providers, the HSE and the IMI. This qualification is the first to address working on live Electric/Hybrid vehicle high voltage systems and components. during emergency and recovery situations. By design it ensures that technicians who are required to maintain and repair Electric/Hybrid Vehicle High Voltage systems and components have the necessary knowledge to work safely on and around the vehicle high voltage system.

Upon completion of this course the technician will be able to practically demonstrate that they have the skills to repair high voltage vehicle electrical components and systems.

Candidates are required to provide evidence that they have completed the Level 3 award prior to acceptance on this programme. Technicians will be required to demonstrate their practical ability on the High Voltage powertrain during the course and produce a concise technical diagnostic report of their diagnostic procedures and supporting evidence.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This IMI qualification is designed for those personnel who in the course of their daily work are required to work ‘Live’ on the Electric/Hybrid vehicle powertrain. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work safely on Electric/Hybrid vehicles high voltage systems. On completing this qualification those personnel will have gained an extensive knowledge and skills level of high voltage technologies and their dangers.

FURTHER STUDY

This level 4 qualification is the highest qualification available to technicians at present.
