IMI Level 3 Accreditation – Light Vehicle Inspection Technician
The IMI Accreditation Light Vehicle Inspection Level 3 (LVI 3) is for Technicians whose job role involves the inspection, maintenance and repair of light vehicles. The accreditation has been designed for Technicians who do not hold a relevant level 3 qualification but want to become an MOT tester for class 3, 4, 5 or 7 vehicles and is a recognised qualification by the DVSA to qualify Technicians to progress to MOT Tester Training.
Course Content
To attain IMI LVI Accreditation, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a range of practical and knowledge-based assessments at each level.
Achievement in LV Inspection Technician accreditation will demonstrate the ability and skills required to carry out emissions testing, accurately inspect a vehicle and provide a vehicle appraisal to required standards, diagnose faults using wiring diagrams where appropriate and effect simple repairs on the electrical systems under test.
Prerequisites
All candidates using this route to become an MOT Tester are required to:
• Have no unspent convictions for criminal offences connected with the MOT testing scheme or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or intimidation
Delegates are required to complete the IMI Registration Form and return to TEN Automotive Training prior to course attendance.
