IMI Level 2 Technical Specialist in MOT Testing (Class 4&7) (Award)

This qualification is designed for individuals who want to become DVSA-approved MOT Testers. To be eligible, learners must:

• Hold a full UK driving licence for the relevant vehicle classes
• Have at least four years’ full-time employed experience in vehicle servicing and repair
• Have no unspent convictions related to the MOT scheme, motor trade, or violent offences
• Be considered ‘of good repute’
• To become a nominated tester (NT) for class 3, 4, 5 or 7 vehicles they must also have an ‘appropriate’ qualification.

Upon qualification, learners must successfully complete a DVSA-observed demonstration test to obtain a Certificate of Competence (CoC), allowing them to become authorised MOT Testers.

This course supports experienced professionals in developing the skills and knowledge needed to perform statutory roadworthiness inspections, and meeting the prerequisite qualification required for DVSA final assessment.
