IMI Electric Vehicle Technician Assessment

The IMI Electric Vehicle Technician Accreditation is designed for technicians who are already confident working with electric and hybrid vehicles and need to formally evidence their competence through an IMI-recognised accreditation.
This intensive 2-day accreditation focuses on safe working practices, system understanding, and practical competence when carrying out inspection, maintenance, repair, and replacement tasks on electric and hybrid vehicles in a real-world workshop environment.

Successful completion of this accreditation also provides 3 years’ registration on the IMI TechSafe® Register, offering visible, independent recognition that the technician is competent to work safely on electric and hybrid vehicles.

This course is intended to validate existing competence, not introduce candidates to electric vehicles for the first time.

Entry Requirements / Prerequisites
Candidates must:
• Be confident working with electric and hybrid vehicles
• Have existing experience of EV maintenance, inspection, or repair activities
• Understand EV system architecture and workshop safety principles

Important note: This course is not suitable for beginners or those new to EVs.
