HABC Level 2 Award in Fire Safety

Fire safety is important for garage workshops due to the high-risk environment with many potential fire hazards. Proper fire safety training is critical for preventing fires and ensuring a rapid and effective response if one does occur. This protects employees’ lives, the business’s property, and ensures legal compliance.

Who is it for?
For a garage workshop, every team member needs a working knowledge of fire safety, risk prevention, and emergency actions, even though the formal Level 2 Award course is for those in a management role. Given the high-risk environment with flammable materials and ignition sources, basic fire safety awareness is crucial for all technicians to protect themselves, their colleagues, and the workshop.

• Hazards and risks associated with a fire in the workplace
• How the products of combustion present risks to health, and how a fire can spread
• How fire risk is controlled in the workplace
• How to create a fire risk assessment and how to prevent or extinguish a fire using the principles of the fire triangle model
• The principles and practice of fire safety management at work including the duties of employers and employees when it comes to fire safety and creating a practical evacuation plan
• Role of the nominated fire warden including what to do when a fire warden is away from their designated area of responsibility when an alarm is raised

Qualification
HABC Level 2 Award in Fire Safety (1 Credit).
