Essential Oscilloscope Knowledge

If you want to understand how to setup and use an oscilloscope on modern vehicles this course is the place to start.

This course has been designed to give you the understanding & confidence to use a scope as part of your diagnostic process as and when needed.

Having a good understanding and confidence using a scope is very important for any vehicle technician in today’s workshop.

Course Content

• What a scope is and how it works
• Know when it is the correct tool to use
• How to correctly connect it into any circuit
• Understand the waveforms captured

There is ample practical work within this course to reinforce the classroom learning, including expert help from experienced technicians.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this training event however having attended the Essential Electrical Knowledge course would be an advantage.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion you will be able to:

• Understand what a scope is and how it works
• Know how to connect it into any circuit
• Know when a multimeter is the wrong tool to use
• Understand the waveforms captured
• Test electrical circuits correctly and with confidence using a scope
• Know how to read and use wiring diagrams to help pinpoint faults

You will know how to approach an electrical fault and carry out the correct tests, using the correct equipment in the correct order, to provide a fix in the shortest timeframe.
