Compliance Gate Checks

Compliance Gate Checks are a site visit to an Operators Centre usually as drivers are reporting for duty, (Drivers should not be made aware of the visit).
Once Drivers have carried out their Daily Before use checks the vehicle is checked by a qualified Technician who carries out a daily before use check and identifies any issues missed by the drivers.

A member of the site management is required to attend at the time of the site visit and a suitable area on the exit route required to pull vehicles into.
These checks can prevent vehicles being used on the road with prohibitable defects on the vehicles due to drivers missing them, not understanding how serious they are or prevent drivers from departing without the correct documents.

Examples of defects found:
• Driver No CPC Card
• Driver not completing manual entries correctly
• Drivers not completing Daily before Use checks correctly
• Drivers not recording or reporting defects
• Tyres cut to cords, Bald tyres, Punctured tyres, Lights inoperative, etc.

Each visit is dependant on start times and fleet size – can be 100% of larger fleets with staggered start times (when the inspector isn’t mid inspection).
